Police Say 8-Year-Old Boy Drowned in Roxbury Creek

ROXBURY, NJ – Authorities have confirmed the tragic drowning death of a child in Roxbury, as announced by Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone.

On Wednesday, around 3:37 p.m., law enforcement received a report of an 8-year-old male juvenile found face down in a nearby creek at a residence in the Flanders section of Roxbury. Responding officers from the Roxbury Township Police Department and paramedics made efforts to resuscitate the child, but unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful. The child was subsequently transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, where he was pronounced deceased.

While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have determined that the incident is not considered suspicious at this time. Due to the age of the deceased being a juvenile, no further details or identifying information will be released.

In light of the heartbreaking loss suffered by the child’s family, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the public respect their privacy during this difficult time.

The investigation into the incident is being conducted collaboratively by the Roxbury Township Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
