QUEENS, NY – Jahvon Frazier, 31, from Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for an unprovoked murder and a separate assault. The announcement came on Thursday from the Queens District Attorney, Melinda Katz.

Frazier was found guilty by a jury on June 8 in Queens Supreme Court of murder in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and assault in the second degree.

On the night of August 25, 2020, Frazier was captured on surveillance footage with a group of men at 14-30 Redfern Avenue. Kenneth Carmichael, 30, approached the group, leading Frazier to open fire on him without provocation. Frazier pursued and continued shooting at the fleeing Carmichael, who suffered fatal injuries to his right lung, heart, liver, and stomach.

Prior to this event, Frazier had assaulted Carmichael during a dispute in May 2019. He was apprehended in North Carolina in October 2020 and extradited to New York.
