Deadly Shooting in Forest City Linked to Previous Day’s Gunfire

FOREST CITY, N.C. – Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a fatal shooting in Forest City on Thursday afternoon is linked to a shooting incident that occurred in Rutherford County the day before.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to a gunfire report on Chase High Road. Upon arrival, multiple shots were found to have struck a residential property, though no injuries were reported. The following day, Forest City Police Department were dispatched to a home on Harmon Street due to another gunfire report. Brandon Gerard Holland was found in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

A second victim, Haley Elizabeth Davis, also sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, where she is expected to recover. Detectives discovered that the shooter was likely a black male dressed in dark clothing who fled towards Hill Street on foot. Evidence suggests he may have left the neighborhood in a grey four-door Ford Fusion.
