Rescue Crews Continue Search for Teen Missing in Delaware River

Delaware Water Gap, New Jersey – Rescue crews are continuing their search efforts for a 19-year-old swimmer who went missing in the waters of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area a few days ago.

The teenager, a resident of Paterson, was last seen on Thursday night around 8 p.m. His friends reported that they witnessed him struggling against the current of the Delaware River before disappearing underwater.

The area in which the teenager was last seen swimming is Karamac, situated on the New Jersey side of the park and approximately a mile north of Interstate 80.

Later, the situation could be compounded by the impending heavy rain and the potential for flooding across New Jersey from Saturday night into Sunday.

The level of the river is two to three feet higher than the average for this time of year, posing safety concerns for dive operations.
