Staten Island Bodega Armed Robber said it was for the Community

NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Saturday, at approximately 10:37 pm, an armed robbery occurred at a commercial establishment located at 585C Veterans Road West on Staten Island. An unknown individual entered the store and brandished an assault rifle at the 26-year-old employee behind the counter.

“Empty the box! Empty the cash register! the lone gunman with the rifle said as he approached the counter, according to the video. “Fast! Quick!” he’s told a store employee. “This is going back to the community.”

The individual demanded money, leading the employee to remove approximately $900 from the cash register and place it on the counter.

The suspect then took the cash and left the location on foot, heading west. The employee did not sustain any injuries. The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individual.
