34-Year-Old Woman Shot in Early Morning Incident in Akron

AKRON, OH – The Akron Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 34-year-old woman injured. The incident took place around 4:38 a.m. Friday, on the 1300 block of Sweitzer Avenue.

Lieutenant Michael Miller of the Akron Police stated that the victim had been walking along Sweitzer Avenue when she was shot in the chest by an unidentified individual.

The victim’s injuries, while serious, are not deemed life-threatening.

While the motive remains unclear, detectives speculate that an altercation may have occurred prior to the shooting. They are unsure if the victim was the intended target.

The Akron Police Department is asking anyone with information on the shooting to call their Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or contact the Summit County Crimestoppers anonymously.
