CLIFTON, NJ – Despite heightened patrols and surveillance efforts, a concerning wave of car thefts and car burglaries continues to plague a specific area on the west side of the city.

The affected zone stretches from Broad Street to Valley Road, bordered by Livingston Street and Chittenden Road.

Law enforcement officers have been diligently responding to suspicious incidents and thefts in progress, resulting in multiple arrests for various offenses, including outstanding warrants.

However, these efforts have not yet yielded a significant reduction in the occurrence of such incidents.

In a recent incident, officers came across a Volkswagen Passat overturned on its roof in the vicinity of Rt 3 West and Broad Street. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the occupants of the stolen vehicle had fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that night from Essex County. Subsequent findings confirmed that the individuals involved in the crash had been specifically targeting vehicles within the city prior to the accident.
