Fatal Vehicle versus Pedestrian Crash in Penn Township

PENN TOWNSHIP, PA – Early in the morning of Thursday, July 7, at 6:47 AM, Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on the 700 block of Doe Run Road.

Upon arrival, officers found the pedestrian, 97-year-old Clinton Rohrer of Manheim, PA, had been fatally struck by a passing vehicle.

Rohrer had been retrieving mail from his mailbox when he stepped onto the highway, into the path of a westbound silver Toyota Camry. Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid the collision, Rohrer was fatally injured.

Members of the Lancaster County Crash team and the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are currently investigating the incident.

The driver of the Camry has been cooperating with the investigation, and further details are pending.
