ONTELAUNEE TOWNSHIP, PA – A central Pennsylvania man is reported to have shot into another vehicle during a domestic-related chase, injuring a Maidencreek Township woman, before subsequently taking his own life.

The chase took place in Ontelaunee Township and ended in a crash, according to Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams.

Larry L. Bidelspach III, 38, of Mifflinburg, Union County, took his own life inside his vehicle as police officers approached on Sunday, said Adams. The woman, 36, had been shot in the head and shoulder area, was rushed to Reading Hospital, underwent surgery, and is expected to survive.

The events unfolded around 5:30 p.m., with a domestic disturbance at the victim’s residence in the Blandon area, leading to a high-speed pursuit. As police arrived at the scene, Bidelspach shot himself.

The Berks County Forensic Services Unit processed the shooting scene along Snyder Road and the crash site. County detectives also assisted in the ongoing investigation.
