TRENTON, NJ – The Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation into the death of 30-year-old Millville resident Daniel King. Mr. King died on Sunday, July 9, a day after his arrest by the New Jersey State Police in Fairfield Township.

The preliminary inquiry shows that on Saturday, July 8, a state trooper responded to a Fordville Road residence after a request from Mr. King for a police escort.

The situation escalated when Mr. King reportedly assaulted the trooper. The altercation continued until two civilians intervened, aiding in Mr. King’s arrest.

Subsequently, Mr. King was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and taken to the NJSP Bridgeton Station. At the station, Mr. King suffered a medical episode and became unresponsive.

Despite lifesaving efforts by troopers and EMS, his condition worsened, and he was pronounced dead at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland on Sunday, July 9, at 11:37 p.m.
