NYPD Makes Arrest in Bronx Shooting

BRONX, NY – As part of an ongoing investigation, the New York City Police Department has released several updates on a homicide.

The original incident took place on Sunday, March 19, at around 11:48 pm. Police responded to a 911 call regarding a male shot at a deli located at 4702 White Plains Road.

Upon arrival, officers found a 24-year-old male, later identified as Dayquon Simmons, with a gunshot wound to the torso. Simmons was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. A second victim, a 42-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and was taken to Montefiore Medical Center in stable condition.

Continuing investigations led to the arrest of Leon Smith, a 24-year-old male from Boston Road, Bronx, on Wednesday, April 19. Smith was charged with Murder, Manslaughter, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Another arrest was made on Wednesday, July 5. Angel Pagan, a 34-year-old male from Saint James Place, New York, faced the same charges.
