NYC Rape Suspect Behind Bars

NEW YORK, NY – A 21-year-old man from New York, Jhonathan Cortes-Lopez, has been arrested and charged in relation to an attempted rape case in the city.

The New York City Police Department reports that the charges include attempted rape, robbery, sexual abuse, and assault.

On Tuesday, the victim was jogging in the vicinity of West 89 Street and Riverside Park when Cortes-Lopez approached on a bicycle. Cortes-Lopez is alleged to have pushed the victim to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her before fleeing the scene.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim, who had sustained minor injuries, to a local hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the New York City Police Department seeking additional information.
