Haledon Woman Arrested for Murder

HALEDON, NJ – Based on an investigation conducted by the Haledon Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, 21-year-old Haledon resident Jamilette Huaranga has been arrested in connection with a fatal incident that took place on Wednesday.

The Haledon Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence near Lee Avenue and Legion Place around 11:45 a.m. The victim, a 19-year-old man identified as A.L. from Haledon, was rushed to Saint Jospeh’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Further investigation revealed that Huaranga was involved in an altercation with A.L., during which she allegedly stabbed him with a knife. Witnesses reported seeing Huaranga outside her residence in bloodied clothing after the incident.

Huaranga faces charges of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The charge of murder alone could result in a sentence ranging from 30 years to life imprisonment.
