NEWARK, NJ – Fritz Fragé, Newark’s Public Safety Director, has requested public assistance in identifying suspects linked to a robbery incident that occurred last Thursday, July 13.

The Newark Police Division was alerted to the incident around 9 a.m. at the 30 block of Edison Place. The report indicates that the victim was alighting from her vehicle when she was approached by the suspects who demanded her belongings.

The suspects made away with the victim’s handbag containing her wallet with $100, credit cards, and a driver’s license. They fled the scene in a stolen 2017 Acura MDX, initially reported missing from Clifton.

The car was later recovered in Newark following the arrest of Taha Y. Jack Spellman, 22, of Newark, for receiving stolen property.

Public Safety Director Fragé asked anyone with information about the suspects to reach out to the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
