Woman Arrested for Stealing Benefits

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – On Tuesday, Nicole Sanders, a 47-year-old Union City resident, was arrested by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit on charges related to fraudulent medical benefits.

Sanders is accused of Theft by Deception and False Reporting to Medicaid, both third-degree crimes.

The arrest took place at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus.

Sanders was subsequently released on a summons and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, August 8.

The investigation found that Sanders had been concealing income from her business, leading to unlawful payments exceeding $70,000 in medical benefits from NJ FamilyCare between 2017 and 2021.
