Arrest Made After Man Found Dead Along Dover Train Tracks

DOVER, NJ – Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Dover Police Department Chief Jonathan Delaney announced the arrest of 34-year-old Wilfredo Cabrera-Masariegos in connection with a homicide in Dover.

At around 1:56 am on Wednesday, Dover Police officers responded to the railroad tracks near West Clinton Street on a report of a deceased person.

The victim, identified as Rene Rivera Hernandez, 47, a homeless individual, was found on the tracks with a blunt force injury to his head.

Cabrera-Masariegos and the victim were reportedly on the railroad tracks under a highway bridge on the night of July 25. Cabrera-Masariegos allegedly struck the victim with a rock and left the scene.

Following the investigation, he has been charged with manslaughter, possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
