NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed on Tuesday, that a series of similar robberies that occurred throughout the Bronx since late June have been identified as a robbery pattern.
The robberies targeted primarily women, with the perpetrators forcibly removing chains from the victims’ necks. Two male suspects, both believed to be around 5’10” to 5’11” tall with a dark complexion, are being sought in connection to these incidents.
The earliest reported incident was on Saturday, July 1, when a 56-year-old female was robbed while walking her dog on Esplanade. Thereafter, similar robberies were reported on Tuesday, July 4, and Saturday, July 8. The suspects escalated the frequency of their robberies, with three incidents reported on Saturday, July 15, Thursday, July 13, and Friday, July 14, respectively.
In one notable incident on Thursday, July 13, a 28-year-old woman was threatened by a perpetrator simulating the possession of a knife. In another incident on Friday, July 14, a suspect brandished a screwdriver to intimidate a 55-year-old female victim.
