Lakewood Man Fled Serious Motor Vehicle Crash Scene

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – On Thursday, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Emmanuel Rodriguez-Galindo, 36, from Lakewood Township, was charged with Hindering the Apprehension of Another and Obstruction of Justice.

On Friday, July 21, at around 2:25 am, the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to a severe motor vehicle crash on James Street.

At the scene, a 2007 Honda Civic was found crashed into a utility pole. The driver had fled, leaving a critically injured male passenger in the car. The victim was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau discovered that the vehicle, under Angel Garcia-Rodriguez’s control, lost control and crashed.

Garcia-Rodriguez, 26, was later located and taken into custody at a residence in Lakewood. He was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death and Endangering an Injured Victim. He remains at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
