Suspect Charged in June Shooting in Utica

UTICA, NY – On June 26, the Utica Police Department revealed information about a shooting that took place on the 500 block of Kossuth Ave where a 32-year-old male was shot in the leg and foot.

As the investigation progressed, investigators were able to gather enough evidence to identify a suspect.

At about 7:00 PM on Saturday, members of the Crime Prevention Unit and Criminal Investigations Division conducted a vehicle stop on Bleecker St.

They apprehended the driver, 33-year-old Mounir Howard of Utica, in connection with the shooting.

Howard was then brought to the Utica Police Department and charged with Attempted Assault in the first degree and Criminal Possession of a weapon in the second degree.
