Teen Charged for Shooting 3-Year-Old Boy

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – The Allegheny County Police have arrested Ammar Rodriguez, a 19-year-old man from Wilmerding, in connection with the shooting of a three-year-old boy in Duquesne.

Last Friday, at approximately 9:11 pm, homicide detectives were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of North 3rd Street in Duquesne where they found the young victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The child, who has not been named, is currently recovering from his injuries and is expected to survive. The shooting occurred within the confines of a residence, though further details of the scene have not been provided. The incident was initially reported to the Allegheny County Police homicide detectives.

Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Rodriguez, who was 18 at the time of the incident, was responsible for the shooting.

On March 28, an arrest warrant was issued for him. Rodriguez now faces charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and a firearm violation.

The Allegheny County Police Department urges anyone with further information relating to this case to step forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
