Queens Man Sentenced for Attempted Murder of Ex-girlfriend

BROOKLYN, NY – Muneshwar Bira, a 37-year-old man from St. Albans, Queens, was sentenced on Tuesday to 21 years in prison by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

Bira was convicted for attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend, resulting in severe injuries to the woman.

On June 4, 2021, Bira broke into his ex-girlfriend’s basement apartment in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Armed with a knife, he proceeded to attack the woman, causing her to sustain serious lacerations to her forehead and forearm. After one knife broke during the assault, Bira continued the attack with two additional knives.

During the attack, the victim managed to call for help from her 15-year-old son.

Bira was convicted on July 10, for second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
