Officers Rush to Sound of Gunfire as Man Shot and Killed in Dayton

DAYTON, OH – A 51-year-old Dayton man, Robert Blackstone, lost his life in an early morning shooting on Tuesday in downtown Dayton.

Blackstone was pronounced dead at 12:37 a.m. in the 110 block of South Main St., according to Dr. Kent Harshbarger of the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper right side of his chest, as recorded by the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center. The Dayton Police Department arrived on site when the incident occurred at around 12:28 a.m.

Bauer noted that officers rushed in the direction of the gunfire and found the victim recently injured.
