Patient Escapes Psychiatric Hospital After Accomplice Shoots Out Window

CAMBRIDGE, MD – On Monday, an incident occurred at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center located on Woods Road.

At around 5:39 pm, Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a shooting report at the location.

Upon arrival, security officers reported that an unidentified individual in a black vehicle had approached the building, shooting several times at a glass window.

The shooter then kicked out the broken window, allowing a current patient of the hospital to escape with the individual in the black vehicle. No injuries were reported at the scene.

The escaped patient was identified as Darrin Lee Jeter, a 19-year-old resident of Rockville, MD. Jeter is described as an African American male, 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair in braids with blonde tips. Jeter had been committed to the Hospital Center for Assault on Law Enforcement Officers.
