Two Men Arrested with Loaded Gunns Following Traffic Stop

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – A traffic stop on Saturday, resulted in the arrest of two men, Basil Hasan, 20, of Scotch Plains, and Keshan Brown, 22, of Avenel.

Officer Ryan McSharry pulled over a Silver 2015 Kia due to registration and equipment violations near Cayuga Road.

During the investigation, Officer McSharry discovered two loaded 9mm Springfield Armory handguns, one with an extended magazine, in the vehicle. Both Hasan and Brown were promptly arrested without incident.

The two face charges including possession of a firearm and possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine.

Hasan received additional motor vehicle summonses, while Brown was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt. Following the arrest, both individuals have been sent to the Union County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
