Three Charged for Illegal Gun During Traffic Stop

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ – Following a motor vehicle stop on Wednesday, at around 10:17 p.m., Officer Joshua Sousa apprehended three Essex County men for weapons-related offenses.

The silver Chrysler sedan was pulled over in the vicinity of E. North Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue due to speeding and equipment violations.

During the stop, multiple defaced firearms were found inside the vehicle, one of which had been reported stolen from South Carolina.

The arrested individuals are Miles Cotton, 20, Amir Walker, 18, and Ashaun Foster, 18, all from East Orange. Charges against them include Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and several other related offenses.

All three are currently held at Union County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing in Union County Superior Court.
