UTICA, NY – On Friday, both Utica Police and Fire units were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Blandina St after reports of a female with a stabbing wound.

The female victim, found with a large cut on her lower back, was immediately taken to a local hospital by the Utica Fire Department. Her injuries, though severe, are non-life-threatening.

Investigative findings indicate that the incident ensued during a disagreement, after which a male perpetrator inflicted the wound on the female and fled.

A short distance from the scene, patrol officers identified and detained a man fitting the given description, discovering what seemed to be blood on his person.

Further, a knife was found during his search. Asmar Bedford, 44, of Utica, was arrested and charged with Assault in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree following the incident.
