Two Charged for Trying to Carjack Metro Bus

Montgomery County Police

WHEATON, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police apprehended Ricko Ford, 29, of Capital Heights and Wayne Pitt, 30, of Gaithersburg, for trying to steal a Ride-On Metro Bus on Friday.

The incident occurred around Connecticut Ave. and Georgia Ave. in Wheaton.

Around 12:27 a.m., officers were alerted of a potential carjacking. The bus driver had earlier picked up Ford and Pitt at the Glenmont Metro Station.

Following a disagreement over the bus’s destination, the duo demanded the bus from the driver. The driver then exited, and the suspects attempted to drive away.

Officers, upon reaching the scene, noticed Ford and Pitt holding alcohol bottles. Following several commands, the two alighted and were subsequently taken into custody.
