Woman Arrested for Misappropriating Jersey City Housing Authority Funds

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – On Thursday, Tyest Bryant, 53, of Jersey City, was arrested by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit.

The arrest followed an inquiry into funds reported missing from the Jersey City Housing Authority.

Investigations revealed Bryant, while serving as a resident board member for the Booker T. Washington Housing Complex, allegedly diverted over $20,000 of funds for personal usage between 2017 and 2022.

She faces charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition. Bryant was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and was released on a summons.

Her preliminary court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15.
