Domestic Incident Ends in Shooting on MLK Boulevard

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Raleigh Police Department confirmed an investigation into a shooting that took place on Monday in the vicinity of the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Responding officers located a female victim who had sustained gunshot wounds.

The initial investigation has indicated that the event was domestic in nature.

The shooter, acquainted with the victim, reportedly pursued her and fired at least one shot. Following the shooting, the suspect abandoned his crashed vehicle near MLK and fled on foot towards Ligon Magnet Middle School.

The injured woman managed to drive her vehicle to Raleigh Boulevard and Blazing Star Lane, where she was subsequently hospitalized. Her condition is reported as serious.

The vicinity experienced temporary road closures following the incident but was reopened later on Monday. Additionally, though Ligon Middle School wasn’t holding classes, a Code Yellow lockdown was initiated as a precautionary measure.
