PARKVILLE, MD – A 22-year-old bartender from Parkville secured a $40,044 prize while playing the Lottery’s Racetrax game for the first time at Parkton Casa Mia’s.

After seeking advice on playing from a friend, he selected three horses for a trifecta box and opted for the bonus.

Despite his initial assumption that he stood little chance of winning, his horses completed the race in a 12, 7, 3 order, a finish with odds of one in 5,000.

After scanning his ticket with the Maryland Lottery mobile app, he was stunned to discover he had won $40,044, initially believing he had won approximately $800.

The recent college graduate plans to use the winnings to clear student loans and cover expenses as he searches for a job in his field. Casa Mia’s restaurant, where the ticket was purchased, will receive a $400.44 retailer bonus for the win.
