Two Arrested in Atlantic City Car Stop; Police Recover Handguns and Drugs

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—The Atlantic City Police Department arrested two men and recovered two handguns and drugs during a car stop on August 15.

Officer Joseph Kelly initiated the motor vehicle stop in the first block of South Ohio Avenue at 8:56 PM.

While speaking to the driver, Joseph Lawrence, Officer Kelly noticed an open backpack containing a handgun. Lawrence and his passenger, Tyheem Williams, were subsequently arrested with assistance from responding officers.

A search led to the recovery of the backpack containing the handgun, marijuana, and paraphernalia used for narcotics distribution. Williams was also found in possession of a handgun, while Lawrence had numerous prescription pills. Both men were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrest.
