Elderly Man Sentenced for Rape of Two Young Girls in Dublin

DUBLIN BOROUGH, PA – Thomas Rosenthal, 86, of Waltham, Massachusetts, received a 30 to 60-year sentence in state prison for raping two girls in Dublin Borough.

On Wednesday, Rosenthal was sentenced for the crimes committed a year prior. He pleaded guilty in May to numerous charges, including rape of a child and sexual assault.

Emotional impact statements from the victims, aged 5 and 8 at the time of the assault, were read out in court by family members. The mother of the victims commented on the significant emotional trauma the incidents inflicted upon the girls. President Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. sentenced Rosenthal to 15 to 30 years for each victim, to be served consecutively.

Additionally, Rosenthal is mandated to register as a lifelong sex offender, attend sex offender treatment, and have no contact with the victims.

The investigation began when the Dublin Borough Police Department was informed of Rosenthal’s actions in late August 2022. The investigation revealed that the assaults occurred multiple times during a week-long visit by Rosenthal from Massachusetts.
