Latrobe Man Ran Meth Lab Near Elementary School

LATROBE, PA – Ryan Nupp, a 28-year-old resident of Ligonier Street, Latrobe, faces criminal charges after Latrobe Police, in conjunction with Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli, uncovered a suspected methamphetamine lab at his residence.

The investigation began in July when probation officers, after a visit to Nupp’s home, found drug paraphernalia and subsequently requested the assistance of Latrobe Police.

Upon searching the residence, multiple items including glass beakers and containers were found. After a consensual search by Nupp, the state police clandestine lab team was called due to the discovered chemicals.

Key items seized included containers with red powder and residues, sodium hydroxide flakes, acetone, and paint thinner. Tests confirmed that the chemicals are precursors for methamphetamine production, and the residues in some containers matched methamphetamine.

Notably, Nupp’s residence is within close proximity to Latrobe Elementary School and a local childcare facility, which is within 300 feet and 200 feet respectively. Nupp has been charged with operating a methamphetamine laboratory, risking catastrophe, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
