Suspect in Newark Assault Linked to Pagan’s MC

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in identifying two male suspects involved in an aggravated assault at the Day After Bar on Houston Street near New York Avenue.

The violent incident occurred on Wednesday, August 16, around 9:55 p.m. Two Hispanic males attempted to enter the bar without complying with the business’s mandatory pat-down requirement. When a security worker informed them of the policy, tensions escalated rapidly.

The first suspect, described as approximately 6-ft. tall, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and black boots, punched the security worker in the face multiple times. The second suspect, roughly 5’7″ tall, wearing a tan cowboy hat, blue jeans, a biker vest, and black pants, restrained the victim’s hands during the attack.

The second suspect has also been linked to the “Pagan’s” biker club, observed operating a motorcycle and wearing a related patch.

The victim, left injured by the vicious assault, was transported to University Hospital and is in stable condition.

Director Fragé’s call for help emphasizes the severity of the crime and the need for swift justice. Individuals with information about the identity of the suspects are urged to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips remain confidential, and information leading to an arrest may result in a reward.
