Man Arrested After Lying to Police, Keeping Female Victim Locked in House

CUMBERLAND, MD – Charges have been filed stemming from a troubling incident that took place in the 1000 block of Jimpson Rd on August 13. At approximately 2:35 a.m., Cumberland Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a residence after receiving a report of a stabbing.

While the officers were en route to the location, the caller contacted dispatch again, stating it was a false alarm and that the police were not needed.

Upon arriving, officers were eventually able to contact the occupants of the residence, including a person identified as Martinez.

A female victim later revealed to officers that Martinez had assaulted her.

She explained that he had prevented her from answering the door when the officers first arrived and had stopped her from leaving the residence prior to their arrival.

Following an investigation, CPD officers completed an application of charges against Martinez with the Court Commissioner, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant.
