Suspect in July Staten Island Murder Facing New Charges

STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Monday, July 24, police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at 11 Port Richmond Avenue.

Upon their arrival, officers found Dale Cappelli, 57, unconscious with evident head trauma.

He was promptly taken to Richmond University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Investigations revealed that Cappelli had been embroiled in a dispute with Troy Garrett, 40, which escalated to violence.

 Garrett allegedly punched Cappelli, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

Garrett was arrested shortly after at the scene.

He has been charged with assault and is currently in police custody.
