Woman Flees Sexual Attack in Crotona Park

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department has issued a plea for the public’s help in identifying an individual wanted in connection with an attempted criminal sexual act within the confines of the 42 Precinct.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 18, at approximately 8:30 a.m. in Crotona Park. The victim, a 39-year-old female, was sitting in the park when she was approached by an unknown male. After initially engaging in conversation and leaving, the individual returned, exposed himself, and attempted to have the victim perform a sexual act on him.

The victim was able to remove herself from the situation, and the individual fled from the park. EMS transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition for evaluation.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, short curly hair, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sandals. Media depicting the individual is attached and available at the DCPI.
