NYPD Seeks Suspect in Brooklyn Subway Station Hate Crime, Attack

Brooklyn, NY – The New York City Police Department is actively seeking information regarding an individual wanted in connection to an assault that occurred on Thursday, August 17 inside a Brooklyn subway station.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., the unknown individual approached a 22-year-old female victim on the southbound platform of the MTA ‘J’ train at the Broadway and Myrtle Avenue station.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s buttocks and then both parties entered the train.

A dispute escalated onboard, during which the individual made Anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks and physically assaulted the victim. The assault included multiple punches to the face and body, resulting in a fractured nose.

The individual then exited the train at the Delancy Street and Essex Street stop, while the victim sought medical attention at an area hospital for her injuries.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has been notified of the incident and is actively involved in the investigation.
