Brentwood Man Indicted for Deadly Stabbing of Wife and Two-Year-Old Daughter

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of 31-year-old Zanoor Jaffari of Brentwood, who stands accused of stabbing his 33-year-old wife Misbah Batool and their two-year-old child Aiza to death.

According to authorities, on the afternoon of July 30, Suffolk County Police Department responded to emergency calls from the Jaffari family home. Upon entering, officers allegedly observed Jaffari with blood on his clothing and recovered a knife, believed to be the murder weapon used in the stabbings. The officers also discovered Jaffari’s wife and daughter unconscious, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both were transported to South Shore University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Jaffari was subsequently arrested at the scene.

Jaffari was arraigned on August 21 before the Honorable Anthony S. Senft, on two counts of Murder in the First Degree, Class A felonies, and two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, also Class A felonies. He has been remanded without bail pending the outcome of the case.

District Attorney Tierney emphasized the tragic nature of the crime, saying, “Deadly domestic violence typically does not just happen overnight. It escalates over time, and, as seen here, can become lethal.” He urged anyone who is a victim of or witnesses domestic violence to contact the Suffolk County Police Department or the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office to help prevent further tragedies like this one.

The indictment of Jaffari has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the persistent and urgent need to address and intervene in domestic violence situations. Authorities hope that this incident will serve as a stark reminder of the importance of seeking help and utilizing available resources for those affected by domestic violence.
