BROOKLYN, NY – Owolabi Salis, a 60-year-old attorney from Crown Heights, is facing charges for allegedly practicing law despite being disbarred in New York State and defrauding his clients.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the indictment on Monday, highlighting that Salis reportedly stole substantial amounts from nine clients, most of whom were immigrants.

Salis was disbarred on November 29, 2022, following misconduct findings.

Despite being ordered to cease his practice and notify his clients, Salis allegedly continued his operations at his Crown Heights office.

The accused is set to return to court on October 11.
