LANCASTER, PA – Juan Bailer, 58, of the 700 block of Skyline Drive, has been found guilty of strangling his former girlfriend in fall 2022.

The conviction came after a two-day trial overseen by Lancaster County Judge Jeffery Wright. Jurors made their decision after about an hour of deliberation.

The court heard evidence that Bailer had followed his ex-girlfriend from a local club to her car and strangled her until she was close to passing out.

A bystander intervened using a wooden bat to separate Bailer from the woman. The Assistant District Attorney, Jaimes Spring, showcased the distressing 911 call from the victim and presented photos of her injuries.

On September 11, 2022, around 11:32 p.m., officers arrived at the 700 block of Chestnut Street following a report of a domestic disturbance. Bailer was detained at the scene, acknowledging an altercation with the victim, who showed signs of being choked. Bail has been set at $5,000 by Judge Wright.
