Three Car Crash Leads to Shooting, Stabbing in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – On Sunday, around 3:10 p.m., a multi-car accident involving a gunshot and stabbing victim occurred on Maple Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Three vehicles were found in a disabled state, two of which seemed to have collided near Jewett Avenue. Nearby, a BMW sedan was positioned incorrectly in the center lane.

Emergency personnel treated two individuals at the scene. One had sustained a gunshot wound while the other suffered from multiple stab wounds and a head injury, requiring breathing assistance.

Both victims were rushed to a local hospital. An eyewitness recounted witnessing a man with a bat assaulting another individual before another intervened with a firearm.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police, supported by other agencies, secured witnesses for interviews. The area remained closed to traffic until about 5:00 p.m.
