Deadly Attack Leaves Two Children Critical in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – The NYPD has made an arrest in an attack that occurred on Wednesday at 531 52nd Street when police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found three victims: a 43-year-old female, a 5-year-old male, and a 3-year-old female, all suffering from severe head trauma.

EMS quickly transported all three victims to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

The adult female, identified as Zhao Zhao of the same address, was pronounced deceased. The two children remain in critical condition.

Police arrested 47-year-old Liyong Ye at the scene, charging him with Murder, Attempted Murder (2 Counts), Assault (2 Counts), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2 Counts). Officers also recovered a hammer, believed to be the weapon used in the assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
