Gloucester Township, NJ – An incident involving several hours of careful communication between police officers and a local resident resulted in a peaceful arrest on Sunday night.
At approximately 9:04 PM on August 20, Gloucester Township Police observed Samad Searles-Bevans operating a motor vehicle with numerous violations and then entering his residence on Millbridge Road. Officers identified that Mr. Searles-Bevans had active warrants for contempt of court and attempted to make contact.
Mr. Searles-Bevans, who appeared to be possibly under the influence, refused to answer the door and did not wish to be arrested. The officers engaged in several hours of phone contact and visual monitoring, with the aim of getting him to exit the residence safely.
Eventually, Mr. Searles-Bevans left the residence and was safely arrested without injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Samad Searles-Bevans faces charges for Obstruction of Justice, Contempt of Court, and numerous motor vehicle violations. He has been remanded to the Camden County Jail in accordance with New Jersey’s Bail Reform guidelines.
