Pittsburgh Man Arrested for Assault in Cumberland

Cumberland, MD – On Tuesday, August 22, the Cumberland City Police were called to the 100 block of Baltimore St. in response to an assault report. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim, who said they were walking with a male subject when an argument started over wanting to go home.

The dispute escalated, and the male began to assault the victim, throwing them to the ground and punching them. The victim escaped from the assailant and had a passerby call 911. The male subject then fled on foot but was later found by the police.

The suspect, Michael James Connolly, 38, of Pittsburgh, PA, was arrested and taken to Central Booking at the Allegany County Detention Center. He awaits his Initial Appearance with the District Court Commissioner on charges of Assault in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 2nd Degree.
