ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department arrested two 14-year-old males last Friday when their stolen vehicle overheated.

At around 2:20 PM, Officers Troy Grams and Michael Regalbuto noticed a Kia Rio, reported stolen earlier that day, driving in the 1200 block of Drexel Avenue. A pursuit was initiated when the vehicle failed to stop.

The driver led the officers to Route 30 before slowing down due to the car’s history of overheating. The driver and the passenger abandoned the moving vehicle, which then drifted off the roadway causing minor damage.

Officer Grams apprehended the driver with assistance from Officer David White, while Officer Regalbuto and Officer Danish Mohammad arrested the passenger.

The driver was found to have four USB cables, two screwdrivers, and an active arrest warrant. The passenger was also in possession of a screwdriver. Both tools are commonly used in the theft of Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
