A violent assault unfolded just after 4:00 PM on August 24 when the Yonkers Police Department received a report of multiple people slashed near 1 Palisade Avenue. Utilizing City of Yonkers surveillance camera footage, Detectives and Crime Analysts in the AWARE Crime Control Center were able to quickly obtain a description of the suspect.

The suspect, identified as Eric ALI, a 35-year-old Yonkers resident, was apprehended before he could leave the area. A broken pair of scissors used in the assault was found on his person and taken as evidence.

Two victims were discovered by Yonkers Police Units with lacerations and transported to area hospitals in stable condition. A third victim, also in stable condition, responded to the hospital on his own.

The investigation revealed that ALI first attacked a victim inside a business at the given address, then proceeded to slash two other individuals outside the establishment.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano praised the police department for its quick response and emphasized the isolated nature of the incident. Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza also expressed gratitude for the rapid apprehension of the suspect, noting the importance of the concentrated police presence in the downtown business district.

The case now heads to court as the victims recover, and the community reflects on the actions of the Yonkers Police Department in swiftly bringing a violent incident to a close.
