Man Who Assaulted People at Caribbean Festival Charged

Boston, MA – John Davis, 32, of Boston, was arrested by officers assigned to the Caribbean Festival event at about 9:15 AM on Saturday, August 26. Davis faces charges including Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Unlawful Carry of a Dangerous Weapon.

Officers were flagged down near 590 Blue Hill Avenue after receiving a report of a person with a gun. On arrival, they witnessed a victim being assaulted by multiple individuals. As they approached, officers noticed one suspect holding his waistband and were subsequently pushed by another individual in the group.

One arrest was made while the rest of the group fled. A spring-loaded knife was recovered from the suspect, and a subsequent search of the area yielded an Airsoft Glock Style pistol.

Davis is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
