Philadelphia Police Identify 12-Year-Old Found Dead Inside Dumpster

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Police in Philadelphia have released the name of a 12-year-old victim who was found shot, with a bullet to the head, inside a dumpster in a West Philadelphia neighborhood.

A homicide investigation is in progress following the discovery of 12-year-old Hezekiah Bernard’s body in a dumpster on the 5500 block of Cherry Street in West Philadelphia last week. Bernard was found with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police sources.

Family members have been informed and are in contact with homicide detectives leading the investigation. Authorities will hold a 3 p.m. news conference to release more details surrounding the case.
