FORT WASHINGTON, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged 62-year-old Michael Kevin Burch with the murder of his wife and son and the shooting of a neighbor at his residence on Tall Timber Court.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 5:45 pm on August 31. When officers arrived, Burch refused to exit the home, leading authorities to call for a barricade. After several hours of unsuccessful negotiation, Emergency Services Team officers entered the home around 10:45 pm and arrested Burch without incident.

The bodies of the victims, 52-year-old Rori Burch and 25-year-old Michael Burch, Jr., were found in the yard and inside the home, respectively. A neighbor, who was shot when he came to offer help, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Burch faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and related offenses. The motive is still under investigation. This incident marks the 17th domestic-related murder case for the Prince George’s County Police Department this year.

Police urge anyone with information regarding this case to call detectives at 301-516-2512.
